Leading the Future:

"I see myself as leader helping to increase the level of diversity in the STEM field and advocating for the mistreatment and disparities faced by minorities in the medical field."

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?:

"I chose to become a Simons STEM Scholar because of the amount of support I receive from the staff and my cohort. Having a community to lean on was an important factor in my decision because I knew I would need all the help I could get, and it's nice to be able to talk to people who know exactly what you are going through. I would not be doing the things I am doing today if it wasn't for this program."

What would you say to someone who is applying?:

"Do it! It's totally okay if you are unsure about what you want to do in the future. This program opens you to so many different fields and areas of research. Even if you feel that you may not qualified, you should still apply. It's not about the research experience you've already had, it's about your passion and dedication to science. Being part of Simons has pushed me out of my comfort zone in so many ways and has completely changed me as a person. Although parts of it were difficult, I have never once regretted my decision, so just apply! You never know what could happen!"
